Welcome to the 2018 Mini Miss & Little Miss Golden Heritage Days Pageant. Our pageants are for Gibson County residents. Mini Miss is for ages 3-5, and Little Miss is for ages 6-8 as of the date of the pageant, Friday, September 21, 2018.

Theme

Heritage Days is all about culture and annually celebrating our, well, heritage. This years’ theme is based all around that idea. You will need lots of history and creativity for this year! Think about a culture the contestant and her family lives by or is inspired by. Re-create that image with a modest wardrobe and a couple simple paragraphs explaining your choice, some facts on it, and why. This will be submitted as part of your contestant’s biography sheet.
Example: Culture doesn’t have to be based on an entire country or ethnicity, it can be something very specific, such as, Romani. If you were to google what Romani’s are, there is a long list of what makes them, them --- their attire, beliefs, way of life, food, etc. Don’t be afraid to be creative! This is all in celebration of Heritage Days and our country being the melting pot of so many different, beautiful cultures!
Competition will consist of modeling and answering an on-stage question. The contestants will be scored based on their personality, attire fitting to theme, description of theme wear on biography sheet, and ability to answer an on-stage question. (More details are on the rules page.)
A $40 sponsorship fee for each contestant will be required prior to the first practice. This can be paid at the Gibson County Chamber office. The name of the sponsor will be announced during the pageant.
Judges’ decisions will be tabulated by the Gibson County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Judges’ scores and decisions are final.
The goal of the pageants is for the contestants to get familiar with being on stage, in front of a crowd and have fun. We would like to have a Queen who will converse with the public during the Festival.

Rules

  1. Sponsorship fee is due to the Gibson County Chamber of Commerce office the Friday before the first practice.
  2. Contestant must be a resident of Gibson County.
  3. Contestant age is determined by their age as of the date of the pageant. This determines which category they can compete in. (Mini Miss is for ages 3-5, and Little Miss is for ages 6-8.)
  4. Previous titleholders are not eligible in the same division.
  5. During the pageant, no parents or assistants will be allowed backstage with the contestants. Local Queens’ courts will be available to assist the contestants.
  6. On stage questions will be provided to all contestants at the final practice.
  7. Contestants will be judged based on their personality, attire fitting to theme, description of theme wear on biography sheet, and ability to answer an on-stage question. Personality includes stage presence. Ability to answer an on-stage question is if they answer the question and talk to the emcee. Description of theme wear is the last section on the biography sheet. Attire fitting to theme means the clothing follows the following guidelines:
    - Clothing should be fitting to the culture chosen for contestant’s theme.
    - Clothing should be appropriate for the age group and should show little to no skin (with the exception of face, neck, arms, lower legs).
    - This is a pageant. It is for a representative of a local festival, not a glitz pageant.
    - Attire should be approved by the director prior to the pageant.
    - Little to no makeup is appropriate due to the age groups and requirements of the Queens.
  8. 2018 Mini Miss & Little Miss should wear their sash and tiara while attending the festival throughout the weekend. Please check in at the information booth on the square, so the Queens & any court members wearing sashes can be introduced. They will also be asked to participate in the Princeton Christmas parade.
  9. The 2018 Queens’ courts are welcome to participate in any area parades and attend area pageants. It is the responsibility of the Queen’s family to reserve the spots in the parade and provide the vehicle in which the queen rides.
  10. Any clarification of rules will be completed by the Pageant Directors or the Gibson County Chamber of Commerce.
